Who Invented the Computer
Charles Babbage might be the answer that most of you will be thinking to tell if someone asks you: who invented the computer? Actually this is a question, for which the right answer has not been founded till now. What we have learned from our schools might be different. This is a serious topic that needs great research in order to understand who actually invented the computer. If you have already researched well about computers and its invention, then you might have already known that the computer that we are seeing at the moment, is a result of not just one person, but is as a result of many brilliant minds. Charles Babbage is the name that will be coming into the minds of many, when we hear the question: who is the inventor of computers. A computer has different uses and different parts. For the same reason, what people have invented in the past would be different from what we are seeing in front of us at the moment. Computer is a result of what brilliant minds have done in the past. They have worked hard to invent such an electronic device. The purpose for which they have invented the computer might be different from the reason why we are using computers now a days.
People and their Contribution
If you ask people at different countries this same question, you would be getting different answers. It is also believed that J.H. Smith is the person who have invented the computer at first which was happened in 1782. Then Charles Babbage in 1822, came up with his invention. The project was supported by the British Government of that time. Charles, revised his project and came up with the second edition of his difference engine also called as “difference engine No :2″. Many people don’t consider it as an electronic computer. That’s the reason why, some believe that Charles Babbage was the inventor of the first computer, while others believe something else. On the other hand, some people believe that the first electronic computer was invented during Archimedes’ times. Hence these group believes that Archimedes is the inventor of the first electronic computer. Some also believe that it was invented by an unknown person. But again, some believe that the person lived during the age of Archimedes. Antikythera Machine was the name of the first electronic computer which people believes was invented by Archimedes.
Abacus
Abacus is also believed to be one of the first computers and it was invented by the Chinese long back between 300-2600 BC. What we have discussed so far are all about computers and their inventors. But there are still more thoughts and beliefs regarding the same. Beliefs are there that supports- Alan Turing is the inventor of the first electronic computer. He was from the United Kingdom. But his works were destroyed during the great world wars of that time.
Konrad Zuse
Some others give credit to Konrad Zuse for inventing the very first electronic computer. These are people who gives stress to the modern computer that is open in front of us right now. The physical nature and features of the computer that he invented might be matching what we are using today. The name of his computer was Z3 and it was invented during the second world war, in 1941.
John Vincent Ansoff
John Vincent Ansoff also comes in the same list where all other names that we have mentioned above falls. Anatasoff Berry Computer is the name of the computer that he invented. As far as beliefs are concerned, there are people that believe the first personal computer was invented by Berkley Enterprises and it happened in the year 1950. Beliefs and thoughts are not yet over, there are some people who still believes that the very first computer was invented by Colossus in the year 1943 in England.
You might have already understood that the computer what we are seeing today in front of us is a result of the hard work of many brilliant minds. There are so many beliefs and thoughts that make things complicated and confusing. But if you take things, the right way, there won’t occur any confusion. Just make your mind believe that, computer has been invented over a period of time and not by a single personality. Only then you will understand the fact that computers that we are seeing today, has got contributions from people all over the world over the years. Things happened over years and not in days or months. For the same reason, a lot of people have contributed in the invention of the computer what we are seeing now. You might know that the working of a computer is pretty complicated and complex. The same way, the question “who invented the first computer” is also a pretty tough thing to answer. What we have studied in our schools are not wrong. What we have read above is also not wrong. But since the question is a pretty tougher one to understand, in schools we are taught in a way, by which we could grasp things the easy way. Even after mentioning things in this great detail, still there might be confusion in your minds. And that’s because the question doesn’t have a single right answer. The answer for the question may have different forms but the idea behind the answer will be the same.
Different Computers, Different Inventors
There are different types of computers and each of them has been invented for different purposes. It is believed that computers have been invented in generations. Today, we are using the fifth generation of computers that employs integrated chips. IC’s are building blocks of the computers that we are using at the moment. The earlier computers that were invented were with other components such as the vacuum tube and such. These different components also were invented by different people. Thus computer, in short is an electronic device, consisting of different components, which were invented by different people, over the years.
